A Walkthrough of Symphonic Metal - Where Classic meets Metal

1.1 Account requirements

To browse or read the content on the site and its forums, you don’t need to create an account. If you are a visitor and wish to report an error on a page, you can do so anonymously (see the Help Page).

When you create an account on the site, you only need to enter a username, password, and valid email address. You have the option to make your email address secret or public. This is possible at registration and anytime after. You can provide additional information for your public profile. This information can be modified or removed at any moment.

After you sign up, an email will be sent asking you to activate it. Your member privileges will not be available until your account has been activated. You will only receive the confirmation email as a member. Emails related to submissions we consider essential are the only exception. At this time, it is limited to reject emails for band submissions. We do not condone spamming. However, you can opt in to receive additional notifications in your profile.

User accounts can’t be removed once they are created. Because your public contributions must be associated to their author (you!) You should choose a username you are comfortable with over the years and make sure that your profile information is not made public. You can still remove your account partially using the Account Termination process. For more information on account termination, see the link or 2.2 below.

You, as the account holder, are responsible for all actions taken by your account. We take precautions to protect your account information, but we expect registered users to take all necessary precautions to make sure that their accounts are safe. Users are strongly advised to change their passwords regularly, not give out account information to anyone, and to contact us if they suspect their accounts were accessed without authorization.

1.2 Links to other websites

Some of our services may include links to other websites. You will be taken to the site if you click on a link from a third party. These external sites are not managed by us. 2.2 Account Termination

We now offer on-site account terminations to comply with GDPR. Accessible from the last tab of the profile edition page, you can access the option. Account terminations do not constitute a “hard delete”, and any previous “public contributions”, will still be available. • Moderators and admins will have access to reports and notifications that you’ve received.
  • * Forum accounts will be soft-deleted
    • Usersnames will be replaced with numeric IDs
    • Sign and address will be erased (hard-deleted).
    • Other information about profiles will be kept in the database. This information is visible only to administrators.
    • All posts will be retained. You can contact us to have your posts deleted manually.
  • Your username won’t be searchable anymore or displayed on any public-facing pages.
  • Your collection will be deleted (hard-deleted).
  • All reviews will be deleted (hard-deleted).
  • All recommendations will be deleted (hard-deleted).
  • All bookmarks will need to be deleted.

*Soft deletions are required for security and technical reasons. However, they cannot be reversed. If you decide to change your mind, please create another account.
